Today I run OSSIM in my vmware machine, and fyi, the host machine is ubuntu hardy. Installation is easy as 123 . Problem come up when OSSIM tried to change network interface mode to promiscuous on boot process. It happen because VMWare not allowed the guest machine change network interface mode for security reason. Well, security is not my concern for this venue obviously. I trus OSSIM and I want it runs on my VM. So this is what I do to make my guest machine be able to change the network interface mode;

Well, as promised, I want to update the status of using the easy way (for me) to automount my internal ntfs partition in Hardy. Till now, I have no bad experience or disruption on my data stored on it for the two months normal operation. Normal operation means that I use my laptop to done my work every day start at 8.00 am – 5.00 pm, plus extra 2 or 3 hours work at home. And it is just working with OpenOffice or Microsoft Word or Visio or Project running on VM. Shortly, no heavy computing process on my daily use.I think that’s all for now..

My ubuntu Hardy machine refused to lock its desktop  when I hit ctrl+alt+l on my laptop keyboard after I activated the compiz. Just the same case when I used Feisty. This is because compiz take over hardy’s keyboard shortcut into its control CMIIW.

So, to be able to have the keyboard shortcut functioning again, I have to make some changes on my compiz. I use CompizConfig Setting Manager (ccsm) to make the changes. Here are the steps;

Setiap kali saya ingin meng-akses file-file yang berada di partisi ntfs komputer saya, saya harus meng-klik icon hard-drive di menu Places terlebih dahulu. Hal ini cukup “ribet” untuk saya karena saya menyimpan semua file-file kerja di partisi tersebut. Sehingga setiap kali Ubuntu saya “hidup”, saya harus me-mount dulu baru bisa mengakses file-file yang ada didalamnya
Informasi yang didapat dari Google sebagian besar harus menjalankan banyak sekali langkah konfigurasi, dari mulai merubah file /etc/fstab, mencari UUID dari drive yang mau diubah menjadi automount dsb. Padahal, sebenarnya drive tersebut sudah dikenali dalam system, jadi seharusnya ada cara yang dapat membuat Ubuntu dapat me-mount partisi tersebut tanpa harus melakukan banyak perubahan konfigurasi.
